Malta: Destiny

It's not until 43 seconds into this video that you realise it's not a perfume advert. Deep voice advert man is not quite as annoying as the one in James Newman's UK 2020 entry but we still don't need someone to read us motivational posters. Get to the music....

Fortunately, when we do get music it doesn't disappoint. Destiny made the semi finals of Britain's Got (Imported) Talent and then went on to win the Maltese version of X-Factor. Britain's loss was Malta's gain. Now she's ready to dominate Eurovision and her participation is Malta and Britain and everyone's gain.

"All of My Love" sees Destiny's powerful vocals take this already strong song and make it a real challenger. Most of my favourite Eurovision songs make me laugh because they have a badger riding a unicycle or someone yodelling or a man actually on fire, but this became a favourite just by being an absolute tune/choon (delete as appropriate for your age).

The video also scores highly with some cool, young, masked parkour guys. There seems to be some kind of "Capture the Flag" or similar game which the white team will lose because they just stand around dancing on the rocks. For outfit considerations I defer to the expertise of my daughters who highly rate all of Destiny's outfits especially the big, black dress at the start.

As ever, the question is whether Destiny will return with something as good this year.....

So Destiny has returned with a very different feel and....it's still excellent! With Iceland failing to live up to last year's high standard, Russia ditching Little Big (I will probably not get over this) and Georgia making a complete mess of things, the path is open for Malta to win it. Yep, you heard it here first! While I am only just over half way through my reviews and I'm ignoring any new artist, I'm going for 12 points to Malta and predicting it will be their year.

This is such a fun song. I am reliably informed by my kids that the wardrobe department have excelled again (big bows are in apparently). Destiny has not forgotten how to sing. Motorbikes for some danger. A bit of toot-toot because we're being playful. A nonchalent floppy hand dance showing The Roop that signature moves don't have to be mental (still love The Roop and wouldn't change them though). Chemistry because...why not. And a fierce attitude. Yes!

Thank you Malta. I love it!
